Life Expectancy: 15 years or more Pomeranian Pomeranians commonly called “PomPom” are another popular choice of Singaporeans for a home pet. The small body, fluffy fur, playful nature, and foxy look appeal to a lot of people. While they have a lively personality, they bark a lot. However, when given proper training, they become great companions for you and your family. Personality: Friendly and playful Grooming: Moderate shedding. They have a double-layer coat which needs brushing and combing at least twice a week. Activity Level: Moderate to high Life Expectancy: 12 to 16 years Shih Tzu With its origin in Tibet and China, the Shih Tzu is a small dog, with an underbite feature, and a silky coat. Its name “Shih Tzu” literally means “Lion dog” which fits perfectly as they have a long coat with fast-growing hair. They are prone to heat stroke since they have a flat face shape. Personality: Outgoing, playful, affectionate Grooming: Low shedding. The fast-growing hair requires regular brushing and combing. Activity Level: Moderate Life Expectancy: 10 to 16 years Poodle Originating from Germany, their “teddy bear” look is such that as soon as you look at them, you can’t help but say “Aww.” It’s like they leave paw imprints on your heart. Poodles are very active, adaptable, and highly intelligent, making them easy to train. Personality: Friendly, outgoing, loyal, and intelligent. Grooming: Their fur needs regular trimming every six to eight weeks.
